§ 1 — CIRCUMSTANCES OF DISCOVERY

Deceased was discovered by building maintenance staff at approximately 06:40 on the above date. The body was found suspended from a structural beam in the rear storage room of the premises at ████████████████████████████████████████. Premises are registered to ████████████████████████████████. No forced entry was observed.

Cause of death is provisionally recorded as asphyxiation consistent with hanging. No note was found at the scene. Attending medical examiner noted several observations that she described as "inconsistent with voluntary suspension" and requested authorisation for full post-mortem examination.

ANNOTATION — DET. SGT. VURAL: The medical examiner's request for full post-mortem was denied within four hours of submission. I have been in this job for nineteen years and I have never seen a denial come back that fast. I am filing this annotation under protest and I am aware that it will likely be removed before this report reaches any official record.
§ 2 — IDENTIFICATION OF DECEASED

Identification of the deceased has been classified at the request of ████████████████████████████████ and is not reproduced in this report. Officers attending the scene were verbally briefed on the identity of the deceased and advised that this information is subject to state confidentiality provisions.

What I am permitted to record: the deceased was a male individual, approximately thirty years of age, in good physical condition. He was carrying no identification. His clothing was unremarkable. There was nothing on his person to indicate his name, his address, or his occupation.

ANNOTATION — DET. SGT. VURAL: The briefing we received identified the deceased as a government employee of significant seniority. That is all we were told. When I asked the briefing officer for a name, he told me the name was not relevant to my investigation.
§ 3 — INVESTIGATION STATUS

This case was formally closed by administrative order on ████████████████, approximately ██ days after the initial report was filed. The closing designation is SUICIDE — CONFIRMED. No inquest was held. The medical examiner's preliminary observations have been removed from the official record. I have retained a copy.

A case reference number was appended to this file by an external party after submission. The reference number is C07. It does not correspond to any internal Ketharan State Police filing system I am familiar with. I have not been able to determine its origin. I have included it here because it was on the file when it was returned to me and I did not put it there.
